Göteborg,
Sweden
Closing date: 23 May 2026

Want to influence the bigger picture? At Saab, you can realise amazing innovations that keep people and societies safe. Together, we can truly make an impact – and your part matters.

We are looking for a skilled System Architect to join our team within Airborne Early Warning systems. If you enjoy technical leadership and like working in a complex and challenging environment with advanced products, we would like to hear from you.

Your role

As a System Architect, you will be responsible for the overall system architecture in a complex, safety-critical system. You will take a big-picture view and make sure software and hardware work well together across several systems and subsystems.

You will define and maintain a clear architecture that supports how the system is used in practice. You will also work closely with product owners and other stakeholders to turn requirements into a clear technical direction. Part of your role is to make sure everything stays aligned across development, integration and testing.

Goal of the role

To ensure a robust, secure, and verifiable system architecture that enables reliable operation and efficient development of a complex system where software and hardware are tightly integrated.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and maintaining a clear system architecture across multiple systems and subsystems software and hardware

  • Making sure the architecture is modular, scalable and has well defined system boundaries to ensure quick updates and verification

  • Setting guidelines for how the system should handle real-time performance, reliability, and security

  • Defining how software and hardware connect, as well as how different systems communicate (for example data links, sensors, and control systems)

  • Identifying and managing technical risks, including those related to hardware and certification

  • Supporting development, testing, and verification from an architecture point of view

  • Contributing to technical decisions and long-term planning

You will also explain technical topics in a clear way to both technical and non-technical colleagues, and support development teams to follow the overall architecture.

Your profile

We are looking for a motivated, committed, and responsible team player with strong architectural experience in complex environments. You have:

  • Deep understanding of software architecture principles and patterns.

  • Several years of experience in system architecture, with an emphasis on software, within complex, integrated, and safety-critical systems, at least 10 years within this field

  • Experience with Open architecture frameworks and relevant standards

  • Strong understanding of the interaction between software and hardware (e.g., embedded systems, real-time systems)

  • Experience in system integration in environments with high demands on reliability and security

  • Knowledge of relevant standards and practices within defense/aerospace (e.g., DO-178, MIL standards, or equivalent)

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines and with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

What you will be part of

Explore a wealth of possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart inventions, and grow beyond. This is a place for curious minds, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together, we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing our unique perspectives. Your part matters.
