Your role
We are looking for a technically skilled Embedded Software Architect / Development Lead to drive the requirements and specification and/or design and implementation of embedded software systems.
In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with hands-on leadership, guiding engineering teams while contributing to SW architecture planning for next-generation products. Depending on your expertise and career ambitions, role can be tailored more towards SW/system architecture or hands-on technical development lead role, and/or combined with people management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Define and own the embedded software architecture across multiple product lines / lead the development team in implementing high-quality, scalable, and maintainable embedded solutions
Work closely with hardware, systems, and product teams to translate requirements into robust specifications and implementation together with the SW & FPGA development team
Conduct architecture and design reviews; ensure adherence to best engineering practices; mentor developers and provide technical direction
Work closely together with SW platform team to drive modularization and reusability of solutions across projects
Investigate new technologies, tools, and development methodologies to improve performance, reliability, and workflow efficiency
Contribute to / oversee integration, debugging, testing, and optimization of embedded systems
Contribute to / own estimation and scheduling of development activities, support project planning
This role requires fluent communication in English. Finnish is preferred but not mandatory.
In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defense secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.
Your profile
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
7+ years of hands-on embedded software development experience and strong expertise in C++ and embedded Linux
Deep understanding of other embedded SW development concepts such as real-time and distributed systems, low-level drivers and bootloaders, communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, CAN), and hardware – software integration
Proven experience in software architecture, system design, or (technical) leadership roles
Familiarity with modern SW development workflows, ability to adapt and drive practical solutions for efficient execution
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
Nice to Have
Hands-on experience in Yocto or other building system
Knowledge of embedded software security implementations
Knowledge of embedded systems with integrated FPGA, complex signal processing algorithms, and/or communication protocols (SAPIENT, ASTERIX, CESMO, …)
People management or other complementary experience
