Scholarships

Saab Australia offers Engineering Scholarships which are designed to encourage and support those entering the engineering industry.

We currently offer three scholarship opportunities to help support students entering the engineering industry; Engineering Scholarship, Women in Engineering Scholarship and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship.

Sonia and Hannah are both Interns who received our Women in Engineering Scholarship in 2019 and were invited to participate in our annual Internship Program in 2020. This opportunity offers an exciting career pathway as they gain hands-on experience alongside industry leaders in high-technology solutions.

General Engineering Scholarship Opportunities

As we look toward the future, we aim to support and partner with students to encourage them to grow and succeed with their university studies in order to kick-start their careers within the engineering industry.

Saab Australia's General Engineering Scholarship is designed to encourage and support those entering the engineering industry within the fields of:

  • Software Engineering/Computer Science
  • Computer Systems/Networking/IT
  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Physics/Mathematics/Science
  • Cyber Security

Or a related technical discipline. 

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the General Engineering Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Currently studying your second year of a Bachelor's Degree in one of the disciplines noted above (or related)
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the time of application and subsequent years.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 5.0 throughout the scholarship program.
  • Hold Australian citizenship to meet Defence industry security requirements.

Scholarship recipients receive financial assistance, a Saab mentor and a potential fast track into our Internship and Graduate Program.

Women in Engineering Scholarship Opportunities

We are working in a variety of ways to increase the participation of female students in STEM subjects and ultimately pursue and have successful careers in the engineering industry.

Our Women in Engineering Scholarship is designed to encourage and empower women who are passionate about developing a career in advanced technology. We are looking to partner with women studying in the following fields:

  • Software Engineering/Computer Science
  • Computer Systems/Networking/IT
  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Physics/Mathematics/Science
  • Cyber Security

Or related technical discipline

First Nations Scholarship Opportunities

We acknowledge the rich history of Australia's first people and highly value diversity and equal opportunity they bring to our workforce.

The purpose of the First Nations Scholarship is to support and encourage student's continuation and success with their university studies in the following fields:

  • Software Engineering/Computer Science
  • Computer Systems/Networking/IT
  • Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Physics/Mathematics/Science
  • Cyber Security
  • Business/Commerce
  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Law

Or a related technical or business discipline.

To be eligible for the First Nations Scholarship, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • Currently studying your second year of a Bachelor's Degree in any of the disciplines noted above
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the time of application and subsequent years.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 4.0 throughout the scholarship program.
  • Hold Australian Citizenship to meet Defence industry security requirements.
  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
