Under the contract extension, Saab will continue providing end-to-end support for the full fleet of systems from South Australia, including engineering, maintenance, logistics, storage, and distribution, working closely with the original equipment manufacturer, SRCTec.

The AN/TPQ-49 LMMR, supported by Saab since 2015, provides short-range protection against indirect fires and airborne threats for deployed forces, enabling Australian Army personnel to manoeuvre and defend critical assets in contested environments.

Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough CSC said the LMMR capability continues to be a critical element of the Australian Army’s force protection.

“This contract extension builds on Saab’s long-standing partnership with the Australian Army to deliver and sustain ground-based air defence capability,” said Mr Keough.

“Saab’s work supporting critical radar capability draws on decades of experience providing advanced air defence solutions and supporting the Australian Defence Force’s operational readiness across a range of capabilities.”

Saab’s work in Australia is underpinned by Saab’s global expertise in radars and sensors, developed through a strong history in delivering trusted capability to armed forces around the world.
