The visit supports the Australian Government’s innovation, science and research priorities and commitment to the Australian defence industry.

Acting Managing Director, Ben Gulliver and Head of Sales and Marketing, Gerard Ogden hosted the guests and gave them a tour of our world-class facilities and technology being developed by Australians for Australia.

Our development team demonstrated our revolutionary augmented reality technology and the latest generation combat system for the Royal Australian Navy. The Prime Minister had the opportunity to experience wearing the Microsoft HoloLens and walk through Saab’s augmented reality system. Prime Minister Turnbull and Minister Pyne now have a first-hand understanding of the technology being developed at our Adelaide facilities.

Saab Australia is our nation’s most experienced combat systems integrator. For nearly 30 years, Saab Australia has supported the Royal Australian Navy and our technology, developed here in Adelaide, is deployed on ten of the Navy’s warships and potentially, the two new tankers. Innovation is in Saab Australia’s DNA. Our long-term investment in research, development, education and training is aligned with the government’s recent announcements on defence. The future frigate and off-shore patrol vessel programs provide an opportunity for Saab Australia to further invest and grow our advanced manufacturing capabilities. This will enable Saab Australia to continue to support the Australian Defence Force and be competitive on the world market.
