2 min read

Saab Australia has welcomed its largest annual intake of tertiary graduates with 33 new recruits ready to forge their career in the defence industry.

Representing a diverse range of engineering disciplines across biomedical, computer science, aerospace, electrical, information technology and mechatronics, this year’s cohort join Saab at a pivotal time for Australia’s defence industry. This booming sector is filled with learning and career opportunities, available now and into the future.

Saab Australia’s Managing Director, Andy Keough, said that Saab is committed to investing in the next generation of talent as the company continues to grow and deliver innovative technology solutions that contribute to keeping people and society safe.

“Providing diverse and exciting career pathways is crucial to ensuring we attract the nation’s brightest talent into the defence industry workforce pipeline.”

“Saab’s graduate program is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of creating Australia’s future defence capability, strongly supported by our expert senior engineers. Saab’s vibrant culture of continuous learning gives new recruits, particularly those in the early stages of their career, a deep understanding of the defence industry and Saab’s broad range of defence and security capabilities.”

Saab has once again seen a high number of female graduates, with this year’s intake including 27% females. We’re proud that this number continues to increase, because strong female representation is crucial in empowering other women to pursue a STEM career path.

“I am thrilled to welcome the 2023 cohort of graduates to Saab Australia as they embark on rewarding and meaningful learning and development experiences aligned to their talents and career goals,” said Mr Keough.

“Saab understands that our people are central to our success and we are proud of creating a supportive working environment where our values – trust, expertise and drive – are woven into the very fabric of how we engage with our people and our customers.”

Saab’s two-year graduate program is tailored to support graduates’ current skills, developmental needs, preferences and business needs; providing opportunity for impactful work on projects across defence and security domains. Graduates are offered ongoing employment with Saab at the end of their program.
