Saab acquires the Brazilian company Atmos Sistemas

Saab has entered into an agreement to acquire the Brazilian defence company Atmos Sistemas. The transaction documents were signed on April 06, 2020. Normal closing procedures applies, and closing is expected on April 30, 2020.

On 06 April 2020, Saab entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of Atmos Sistemas with operations in São Paulo, Brazil. Atmos Sistemas is a specialized services company that supplies electronic equipment, such as weather radars, advanced maintenance and support services to the Brazilian civil and defence markets. The company was founded in 2004 and has 16 employees.

"This acquisition is in line with Saab's long-term ambition to grow in Brazil. Atmos Sistemas is an innovative company with the ability to develop new support capabilities within the civil and defence markets. This was an excellent opportunity to establish Saab's Support and Services business area in Brazil and it means that we can now offer an even wider scope of products and services in the country.", says Ellen Molin, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Support and Services.

Atmos Sistemas is also one of the beneficiaries of the Brazilian Gripen Programme, responsible for component maintenance of Gripen's sensor systems, such as radar and electronic warfare equipment.

"This is a strong commitment with Gripen's supportability during its life cycle. It reduces the risks within the Brazilian Gripen Programme by increasing availability of spare parts and shortened lead-times. This will help ensure a cost-effective maintenance solution for Gripen in Brazil, as well as an excellent level of availability for the complete weapon system", adds Molin.

The company's legal name will change from Atmos Sistemas to Saab Sensores e Serviços do Brasil (Saab Sensors and Services Brazil) and it will remain as a separate legal entity, integrated into Saab's business area Support and Services.

"From Atmos' perspective, we are very happy to join the Saab family. The capabilities and the highly skilled staff within the company, combined with Saab's solid and extensive experience, will enable Atmos to expand and grow", says the current CEO of Atmos, Mr. Fabio Fukuda.

Fukuda will remain in the company as a senior adviser but leave his role as the CEO. He is replaced by the new Managing Director, Mr. Fabricio Saito, currently Key Account Manager in Brazil within the business unit Gripen Support.

The acquisition is expected to close on April 30, 2020. The transaction will have no material or financial effect on Saab´s results in 2020.
