During a roll-out ceremony on Thursday, April 28, the first T-7A Red Hawk advanced trainer test aircraft built under the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the program was revealed at Boeing’s production facilities in St Louis, Missouri, with senior representatives of the United States Air Force (USAF), Boeing, and Saab all in attendance.
Saab announces a new 10,000 sq. ft. production facility for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) in Cranston, Rhode Island. The Cranston facility will also house the Autonomous and Undersea Systems Division of Saab, Inc. led by industry veteran Jeff Smith. The new Saab location is adjacent to partner SyQwest’s headquarters and close to the U.S. Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI.
Saab and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) met today in Orlando to recognize the start of the Force on Force Training Systems - Next (FoFTS-Next) program.
Saab has received a contract modification from the U.S. Marine Corps within the Force on Force Training Systems - Next (FoFTS-Next) program. The modification value is approximately USD 122 million, where USD 54 million was booked during 2021. The original contract was announced in June 2021. The contract modification announced today also includes options, which increases the potential total contract value up to USD 248 million.
Saab has been awarded a contract from the Kansas City Aviation Department for a Virtual Ramp Control System (VRCS) at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) for its New Terminal now under construction. The Saab system will include two digital tower camera houses, supplemental cameras, and Aerobahn Surface Management capabilities. The contract includes a three-phase implementation project and five years of ramp control services.
Saab announced the grand opening of its new facility located in West Lafayette, Indiana on October 13, 2021. This purpose-built facility represents a major step in both Saab’s global expansion strategy and growth and investment in the U.S.

The U.S. Marine Corps Program Manager for Training Systems has awarded Saab the Force on Force Training Systems - Next (FoFTS-Next) Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC). The contract has a potential value of USD 127.9 million.
