Saab Training Systems to deliver for the US Forces

Saab Training Systems to deliver GAMER Instrumented Training System for the US Forces Saab Training Systems AB, Huskvarna, Sweden, has been awarded a contract from the US Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) of Orlando, Florida to deliver their new instrumented training system this summer to support the US Army. The GAMER (Gunnery and Maneuver Exercise) system is a mobile computer and radio controller used with existing Saab BT 46 laser based simulators. GAMER provides combined arms training for armored and infantry units with a compact, easy to use, rapidly deployable system, which can be operated by military personnel without contractor support. The system can support exercises from platoon to brigade size. It can be used for home station training and can also be configured for large permanent installations. The instrumentation is based on the existing US Army precision simulators produced by Saab Training Systems called the Tank Weapons Gunnery Simulator System (TWGSS) / Precision Gunnery System (PGS) for the Abrams tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Light Armored Vehicle (LAV). Saab Training Systems has already been awarded a production contract in September 1992 by STRICOM for the precision simulators. The US Army contract with US Marine Corps and Foreign Military Sales options is a $180 million program with more than 2,300 simulators to be delivered to over thirty locations. The Saab laser simulators are used, among others, by the British, German, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch and US Armed Forces and have become the NATO de facto standard gunnery and combat simulator for tanks and anti-tank weapons.
