Saab Training Systems wins a major international contract

Saab Training Systems wins a major international Combat Training Centre contract The Royal Netherlands Army has awarded Saab Training Systems, Huskvarna Sweden, a contract for a Mobile Combat Training Centre (MCTC), with deliveries beginning in 2001. The contract value is over 560 million Swedish kronor The decision to award the MCTC contract to Saab follows a procurement process in full international competition. The contract value, over 560 million Swedish kronor, is equally divided between equipment supplies and operational and logistic support for 15 years. The MCTC system will allow the Royal Netherlands Army to conduct both realistic exercises and analyse the performance of each and every participant, factors that are vital in the maintenance of operational effectiveness. The equipment consists of the following major systems: - High fidelity Direct Fire Weapons Effect Simulators that provide the realism and fidelity required in all types of training. Weapon procedures and handling must be followed strictly by the crews and gunners in order to be successful on the battlefield - Exercise Control that provides the tools and functionality for planning and preparation, initialisation, exercise execution, analysis and evaluation of exercises. - Area Weapon Effects Simulation that implements the functionality necessary to simulate and control indirect fire events including artillery, mortar, anti-tank and anti personnel mines, guns and chemical weapons - After Action Review system for preparing and conducting an efficient debrief With this contract Saab Training Systems has won its first Combat Training Centre contract. Procurement of similar training centres is currently under way in several other countries.
