Saab Aerospace in Linköping giving notice

Saab Aerospace in Linköping giving notice Postponed decisions concerning aircraft purchases have created a staffing surplus that is causing Saab Aerospace in Linköping to give notice to 24 employees. Saab Aerospace employs over 4200 workers. Saab Aerospace consciously expanded its workforce in conjunction with bids tendered to the Czech Republic and Austria earlier this year. The increase was necessary to be able to meet commitments in the event that deals were closed with those countries. Flooding in central Europe has now caused the two countries to substantially postpone their decisions. Saab Aerospace must adjust its operations and the size of its workforce accordingly. The planned increase in the pace of operations has been deferred, leading to a staffing surplus. A total of over sixty full-time jobs is involved, 24 of which must be terminated due to the shortage of work. All the workers have been offered extended notice periods. Those affected have also been allowed to complete their career-oriented trainee programs. The parties have agreed that the terminations will occur in accordance with the Swedish Employment Protection Act (LAS) and applicable collective agreements. Most of the others who have been affected by a shortage of work will be offered continuing training so that they will be able to fill future vacancies. Overall, long-term plans call for somewhat reduced volumes that will entail reductions in both factory and office staffing. This is a consequence of the restructuring that is taking place in the international defense industry, where future projects will be carried out in partnership with others. Another contributing factor is the increased streamlining and improved cost-effectiveness of our own operations. Saab is one of the world's leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defense, aviation and space. Saab covers a broad spectrum of competence and capabilities in systems integration.
