Saab wins German orders worth SEK 185 million
Saab wins German orders worth SEK 185 million Saab Training Systems, Huskvarna, Sweden, has signed contracts with Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung (BWB), The German Office of Defence Technology and Procurement, for delivery of the BT 46 laser simulator systems to the German army. "We have been delivering training systems to the German army since the mid-80s, and Germany is one of our key customers. These contracts are further confirmation that ours is the best army laser simulator system that the market has to offer," says Johan Ohlson, CEO for Saab Training Systems AB. The contracts are for laser simulator systems for the Leopard tank, PAH- 1 helicopter and Wiesel TOW. A development contract is also in place for simulators for the Fennek armoured reconnaissance vehicle. Since 1997, the Saab BT 46 laser simulator system has been a vital component at Gefechtübungszentrum (GÜZ) the German army's extensive battle training facilities, where training is conducted entirely by the aid of simulators. The delivery of the new orders will enable army conscripts to train on the same simulator system at their regiments as for their final exercises at GÜZ. Saab is one of the world's leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defense, aviation and space. The Group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration. Saab Training Systems develops, manufactures and markets advanced military training equipment such as laser simulator systems, instrumented training systems and target equipment, and provides service and maintenance for delivered systems.
