Saab Ericsson Space wins WORLDSAT-3 reflector antenna contract

Saab Ericsson Space wins WORLDSAT-3 reflector antenna contract Saab Ericsson Space AB in Gothenburg, Sweden, has won an order for two reflector antennas to be supplied to satellite prime contractor Alcatel Space. - Our antenna products are now reaping the benefits of many years of design and manufacturing technology development. Together with our mother company Saab, we have built a world-class capability in manufacturing high-performance carbon fiber structures and antennas, says Bengt Mörtberg, president and CEO of Saab Ericsson Space. The new order is for two 1.1 meter Ku-band Gregorian reflector antennas to be mounted on the earth-facing panel of the WORLDSAT-3 (WS-3) satellite. The antennas have heritage from the light weight all Carbon Fiber antenna recently delivered for the AMC-9 satellite and also from antennas of the same type for the Sirius 2 and EW4 satellites. - Since we have just been awarded an order for a similar antenna for Alcatel's Star One satellite, we have a good opportunity to accomplish cost-effective synergies for the benefit of all parties, adds Mörtberg. The WS-3 satellite will be operated by SES AMERICOM of Princeton, for its newly formed subsidiary, WORLDSAT. The satellite will be placed over the Pacific Ocean and will have coverage from Western North America to East Asia using transponders at C and Ku-band. The antennas will be delivered to Alcatel Space in Cannes, France for use onboard a Spacebus 4000 Satellite. Saab Ericsson Space is also a long-standing supplier of Telemetry and Telecommand antennas. This year we celebrate 25 years of heritage and 250 deliveries of wide coverage antennas! Saab Ericsson Space is an international, independent supplier of space equipment. The company's main products are computers, microwave electronics and antennas for spacecraft and adapters and separation systems for launchers. The company has its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, a division located in Linköping, Sweden, and subsidiaries in Austria (Austrian Aerospace) and the USA (Saab Ericsson Space Inc). Saab Ericsson Space has approximately 520 employees. The company is jointly owned by Saab and Ericsson.
