Saab wins MSEK 150 order for fire control system

Saab wins MSEK 150 order for fire control system Saab Systems has won an order from Alvis Hägglunds/Patria for the UTAAS fire control system. The order is worth MSEK 150 and is a continuation of a previous order of UTAAS for the Finnish Army's CV9030 Combat Vehicles. "This order consolidates our position as one of the leading suppliers of fire control systems for tanks and armored vehicles," says Thomas Kloos, Sales Director of Land Systems at Saab Systems. UTAAS (Universal Tank and Anti Aircraft System) is a modular integrated sight and fire control system for tanks and armored vehicles. UTAAS offers direct fire capability, which means that the gunner can take aim independently of the vehicle's movements while the fire control system automatically aligns the gun. The result is that firing can begin sooner than with conventional target alignment, a crucial advantage in most combat situations. Saab Systems has over 50 years' experience of developing and manufacturing advanced optical sights, working with the very latest night vision technology. Over 800 systems have been sold to Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Finland and other markets.
