AerotechTelub develops SJÖBASIS for Coast Guard

AerotechTelub has signed an agreement with the Swedish Coast Guard to develop SJÖBASIS, an information system that collates the information gathered by Swedish authorities and relays it back to the authorities to assist them in their monitoring of coasts and seas. The first stage of the agreement covers system design and will be delivered in February 2006.

“AerotechTelub has been working for several years with customized system solutions to meet various authorities’ needs for new technology and new solutions so that they can conduct their operations efficiently. We are very proud to have won this agreement with the Swedish Coast Guard in tough competition,” says Joakim Kruse, division manager at AerotechTelub. SJÖBASIS co-ordinates maritime monitoring and information while relaying that information to a range of government authorities. The maritime information consists of data about ship positions from transponder systems and different sensors such as radar, along with other official data about various types of shipping licenses. The architecture is based on Open Source with web-based GIS presentation. The system places rigorous demands on security to ensure the information cannot be corrupted or fall into the wrong hands. The authorities that will have access to the information are the Swedish Maritime Administration, the Swedish Board of Fisheries, SMHI, the Swedish Customs Service, the National Police Board, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Armed Forces and the Swedish Coast Guard. AerotechTelub is one of Sweden’s leading consultancy companies. The company offers technical services and solutions for industry, total defense, government offices and authorities – anywhere where there are high demands on function and reliability. At AerotechTelub, system owners and system suppliers are given support throughout the entire system and product cycle. AerotechTelub has a turnover of approximately SEK 2.2. billion and employs around 2,000 people at several locations in Sweden. The company is part of the Saab Group.
