Seminar – How can technology protect European citizens’ rights and freedom?
Defence and security company Saab invites media to a seminar on how technology can protect European citizens’ rights and freedom. The seminar, organised in cooperation with MEP Amelia Andersdotter, takes place on June 4 at the European Parliament in Brussels.
This is the third seminar in the series Shaping the Future of the European Security and Defence Policy and one where an important question will be asked – how can European citizens be secure without feeling watched?
The wide access to Internet and connectivity has brought with it increased opportunities for European citizens to exercise their right to freedom of expression, but the Internet also involves risks that can affect individuals as well as critical societal infrastructure.
That is why the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy have launched a joint communication on an EU Cyber Security Strategy.
The strategy calls for the development of European industrial and technological resources for network and information security as well as a coherent international cyberspace policy for the EU.
