Saab’s Runway Safety System Operational at Indonesia’s Juanda International Airport

Saab’s Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) is now in service at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia.

Saab’s A-SMGCS has been deployed at Juanda International Airport, Indonesia’s third largest airport serving over 19 million passengers per year. Saab’s A-SMGCS is a proven, reliable and standards compliant system that provides surveillance of airport runways, taxiways, stands and on approach. The A-SMGCS at Juanda includes a surface multilateration system, vehicle locators (VeeLo), fusion processing, safety alerts and controller working positions. The system features the RU7, Saab’s most advanced multilateration ground station, plus a modern processing system to create a full situational awareness picture for controllers.

“We at Saab are pleased to be working with our partners in Indonesia to improve safety through advanced air traffic management tools such as the Saab A-SMGCS,” says Mike Gerry, head of business unit Air Traffic Management within Saab business area Industrial Products and Services.
