Micael Johansson new President and CEO of Saab

Saab's Board of Directors has today appointed Micael Johansson as President and CEO of Saab. Micael Johansson will take up his position on October 23, replacing Håkan Buskhe, who earlier has announced his resignation as CEO.

Micael Johansson has been deputy CEO and Senior Executive Vice President of Saab since January 2017. Micael Johansson started at Saab in 1985 and has held several executive positions within the company, including head of business area Surveillance.

“Saab's focus will continue to be to execute the company's communicated strategy and priorities. It is about delivering on the big programmes, developing relationships with both Swedish and international partners, investing in research and development, and reaching Saab’s financial goals”, says Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of the Board.

“Micael Johansson has both the technical expertise and a long-standing experience of Saab, of the industry, and of the market. In a situation where Saab has several major ongoing development programmes and important international collaborations, the Board of Directors highly values ​​his expertise and experience. It creates continuity in important relationships with customers and other companies”, says Marcus Wallenberg, Chair of the Board.

Micael Johansson was born in 1960 and holds a degree in mathematics and computer science from Uppsala University.

Getting to contribute to this work, together with all our talented workforce, is an important responsibility”, says Saab's incoming President and CEO Micael Johansson.

“As President and CEO, I look forward to continue the process of implementing Saab's strategy, and to improve profitability and cash flow. It is essential to be able to continue investing in rapid technological change, to develop collaborative projects with other companies and to move forward with Saab's internationalisation”, concludes Micael Johansson.

Håkan Buskhe will continue his employment in accordance with his employment contract until February 11, 2020. From October 23, Håkan Buskhe will act as an advisor to Saab. Micael Johansson is available for questions from the media today, Wednesday 4 September.
