ACCOUNTS OFFICER

The role

The Accounts Officer primary purpose is to ensure Saab’s accounts payable and payroll administration processes are managed effectively. Processing basic and routine functions related to Accounts Payable in a high-volume environment and general accounting duties, including invoicing, preparation and processing of electronic payments and preparing related documentation and correspondence.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Processing journal entries and extracting statistical data and reports from records for analysis
  • Maintaining records of documents processed for ready access and producing various reports according to operating procedures
  • Obtaining authorisation for payment from appropriate personnel and allocating expenditure to the correct budget account
  • Data Input - key in data to the accounting system, this covers: -supplier/creditor invoices, manual payments, general journals
  • Preparing, documenting, and posting of journals
  • Liaising with suppliers and Internal Stakeholders
  • Ensuring source documents are correctly authorised and coded

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from will be considered for this role after discussion with the manager.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Experience with Accounting ERP Software
  • Experience with High Volume Data Entry with Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Intermediate level skill/experience in the use of Excel
  • Experience in a finance role
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to analyse and communicate financial information
  • Pro-active, service-orientated work style
  • Continually looking to improve themselves, the systems, and the working environment at Saab
  • Effective contributor to a small team environment


As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level or have the ability to gain one Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
