Through Saab’s roles in the CSI-IPT (Combat Systems Integration Integrated Product Team) and the Enterprise Partnering Agreement (EPA) framework, you will play a central role in delivering long-term Combat System sustainment across the Royal Australian Navy.
In this pivotal role, you’ll contribute directly to capability outcomes within a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values innovation, initiative and deep domain experience. This is more than asset management—it’s system stewardship at the national level.
This role is ideally suited to professionals with former Weapons Electrical Engineering Officer (WEEO) experience, or those with comparable backgrounds in combat system sustainment, asset management, or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) from Defence or CASG environments.
We work in a fast-paced, demanding, challenging as well as time sensitive environment; we’re diverse, global, resilient, adaptable and agile, therefore the ability to solve problems is critical.
This position also offers Flexible working options and a 9 Day Fortnight.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead development of tailored Combat System Asset Management Plans, lifecycle models, and engineering support strategies.
- Represent Saab within the CSI-IPT and support strategic planning aligned with the EPA.
- Manage obsolescence across complex and legacy systems and develop costed corrective actions through stakeholder engagement.
- Deliver lifecycle forecasts, technical refresh strategies and work packages in collaboration with OEMs and Navy stakeholders.
- Drive data-driven sustainment improvements via condition assessments, performance analytics and formal reporting to stakeholders.
- Support ILS functions such as R&M analysis, FMECA, level-of-repair studies, spares planning, and system disposal strategies.
- Provide engineering assurance in contract scoping, risk assessments and cost modelling for sustainment activities.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 55001 quality frameworks.
About you
You have a deep appreciation for sustainment engineering in a Defence or Defence Industry context and a track record of improving mission availability through proactive asset management.

- High-level communication skills and stakeholder management, including engaging with OEMs, senior officials and subcontractors.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and inclusively within high-performing teams.
- Clear understanding of systems & safety engineering, configuration and asset lifecycle principles in a complex defence environment.
Qualification and Clearance:
- Degree in Logistics Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline—or demonstrated capability in lieu.
- Membership or familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 55001 frameworks.
- Additional training or certification is Asset management, ILS, Defence support services or reliability engineering is desirable
