Job Description:

Saab in East Syracuse, NY is seeking an Associate (Entry-Level) Integration & Test Engineer for FAA Programs. The business encompasses all forms of detecting and tracking aircraft while in flight and on the surface of airports, including radar, multilateration, and Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast. Saab specializes in the design and deployment of these solutions, the development of integrated surveillance systems, and the fusion and display of the information each creates. This position will support the integration and testing of these products for deployment to the FAA.

Responsibilities and learning opportunities include:

  • Develop, document, and execute test approaches and procedures for hardware, software, and system level testing.

  • Discover, investigate, and solve problems.

  • Conduct engineering dry runs, formal testing, and regression testing.

  • Perform data analysis, prepare test briefings, and write test reports.

  • Conduct and support system integration in a lab environment.

  • Assist in hardware and software troubleshooting.

  • Generate and investigate problem reports.

  • Create test scenarios using various simulators.

  • Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Work on problems of limited to moderate scope.

  • Interact with internal and external customers on technical and programmatic issues.

  • Note: this is not an aerospace/avionics engineering position. Work is mostly software-focused, though there may be tasks involving electronics and RF equipment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics in required. Master's degree is a plus.

  • Prior intern/co-op experience in an Engineering environment and/or relevant coursework experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft tools and Microsoft Windows applications.

  • Ability to manage a dynamic workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Clear, concise, and correct written and oral communication, including grammar, spelling, and composition.

  • High standards of quality and attention to detail.

  • Experience with software, hardware, and system test methodologies and regression testing is desired.

  • Experience with software, hardware, and system integration activities is desired.

  • Desired experience using the following: Unix and/or Linux, MATLAB, DOORS and JIRA.

  • Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and protocols.

  • Familiarity with Python, Java, and/or C++.

  • Understanding of the use of configuration management, quality assurance, requirement management systems, and automatic testing tools preferred.
