Job Description:
Saab's Surveillance division in East Syracuse, NY is seeking an entry level Associate Mechanical Engineer. The engineer will be a member of the Mechanical Engineering team responsible for the development of mechanical systems and assemblies across various platforms including ground based and shipboard military radars, close combat weapons and missile systems.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Apply mechanical engineering principles for the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies
Develop CAD 2D and 3D models of electronic, mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies
Documentation of design solutions including reports, engineering drawings and Bill of Materials
Provide effective communication across functional teams
Work as key member of a cross-functional team to develop mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions
Compensation: $72,000 - $90,000
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
0+ years’ experience in mechanical design.
Understanding of mechanical design philosophy and design process flow.
Ability to resolve issues during design, development and execution of mechanical engineering activities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office software applications.
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
Desired:
Demonstrated knowledge of SolidWorks.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Demonstrated performance and proficiency in the elements of Mechanical design, e.g. analysis and implementation of requirements, developing design concepts, evaluating designs, technical analysis, generating designs, design reviews
