Bid Manager

You will be part of the Public Safety and Security unit who develops advanced software applications and solutions for mission critical control room solutions within Public Safety and Security market. The team you will join has operations in Sweden, UK and Australia. You will be part of the UK team and report to the Head of Sales Public Safety Solutions U.K.

As a Bid manager, you will be managing all the aspects related to proposals submitted by the company. You will be entrusted with managing the bid process of the Public Safety Sales function, managing proposals from the inception until contract signature and handover to the project management team via defined processes. 

Willingness to learn about the Saab Public Safety solutions, together with new target market areas (e.g. airports, prisons, transport) and alternative Saab products (e.g. OneView PSIM – Physical Security and Information Management platform)

Duties & Responsibilities

Bid management

Essential skills:

  • Creating and managing bid project plans
  • Managing stakeholders to meet deadlines
  • Preparing for, participating and capturing outcomes of sales governance (WB) processes
  • Accurately capturing client requirements
  • Organising and running kick-off and solution design meetings
  • Liaising with all stakeholders to gather information and produce bid content
  • Collating documents to produce tenders compliant with the client bid process
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Submitting bids, including via client procurement portals
  • Populating PQQs/RFI’s and ITT’s with product and generic company information
  • Managing clarifications and communication with the client
  • Co-ordinating site visits and presentations
  • Researching competitors
  • Assisting with Product functional bid responses
  • Driving on going improvements to the bid management process

Bid writing

  • Reading and understanding client documents, e.g., specifications
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Supporting the production and subsequent review of grammatical, well-written, compelling copy to reflect client requirements
  • The capacity to present a logical argument in writing
  • High level of IT literacy, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Atlassian/Confluence and Internet research
  • Evaluating, correcting, critiquing and re-writing others’ copy
  • Re-working contributions copy to create consistent documents
  • Formatting to produce visually appealing documents
  • Proof reading

Working closely with colleagues across all functions of the business; product management; software development; project management; commissioning; finance and service management to ensure all solutions, tender responses, proposals and/or quotations are delivered to a high quality.  Liaising with 3rd party suppliers, systems integrators or other organisations as required.

Required Product/Domain Knowledge and Experience:

Previous bid management experience required.

Preferred strong industry knowledge of Police and/or Fire operational solutions with knowledge in some of the following product areas;

  • Public Safety 999/112 Control Room and Mobile Data solutions
  • Command & Control (C&C) / Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) solutions
  • Integrated Communications Control Systems (ICCS) with telephony and radio integration
  • Crime and Intelligence / Record Management Systems (RMS)
  • Other relevant operational Police and/or Fire solutions

Other skills and experience

  • Multiple customer and supplier management experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines

  • Candidates must hold a UK driving license
  • Candidates must have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years in order to undergo Security Clearance (SC) vetting.
