Your role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our expanding Marketing & Sales team responsible for Airborne Early Warning & Control systems. As a Business Development Manager, you will support our senior sales director and work in close cooperation with all relevant business units within Saab to sell and secure complex contracts on a Mega Deal scale. You will have close interaction with the different programs and product owners, business development and strategy team, finance and commercial as well as Saabs top management to define and execute a successful win-strategy to develop and secure business. You will handle the campaign work from initial contacts with the customer and business development, through proposal offering and negotiations, to contract signing.

This position offers a unique position to work with complex sales in the highly competitive international defense market and provides the opportunity to work with world leading portfolio and key areas for the company’s future. This means being able to manage complex, large-scale offerings across our product portfolio for new and existing customers.

Travelling is required, mainly outside Sweden. These trips can be related both to specific customer interactions as well as general marketing events such as exhibitions and tradeshows.

Your profile

We are looking for a Business Development Manager with a strong foundation in business and a keen interest in developing their sales and leadership skills in an international context. The candidate should have a proven track record of managing complex projects, such as acquisitions, expansions, or international site establishments. Experience from technically intensive sectors like engineering or project-driven operations is preferred. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate strong numerical data handling and presentation skills, coupled with a solid understanding of business models.

As a person, you have outstanding ability to develop relationships and networks, but also to keep focus on pushing sales efforts forward until closing contract. You also have a passion for innovation, both regarding technology and business models. Analytical skills are very important not only to understand the customer requirements and system solutions, but also to manage all the financial aspects of our proposals. Excellent presenting and communication skills are mandatory as well as leadership skills to engage and lead bid teams successfully.

Since you mainly will engage international customers, English skills in a business environment both orally and in writing is mandatory. It is also preferable with Swedish skills. The successful candidate will be located at Saab Solna Strand site.

We also assume you have:

  • Technical or business degree from university
  • 5-7 years of work experience of business development of complex systems on export market or an international market.
  • Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions
  • Experienced in moving ideas to revenue, business models, analysis of market, partners & competition
  • Shows potential for leading, developing, and challenging the organization, management teams, and employees
  • Cooperative skills, drive, and ability to generate energy and motivate team members
  • Persistence and dedication to handle long-term marketing and sales initiatives

Desired experience is:

  • Management consultant
  • Complex industry set-ups

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
