Business Operations Manager

The opportunity

Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT). The CSI-IPT forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1).

The role

As part of our Engineering and Sustainment Services group, the Business Operations Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the Business Operations capability and services for the CSI-IPT. Providing leadership across Business Operations functions WHS, ICT, GFM, Continuous Improvement and facilities supporting the operations of the CSI-IPT in a coordinated, programmatic manner.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit leadership, communication and negotiation skills and engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders across the CSI-IPT.

  • Establish and manage CSI-IPT Business Operations ensuring the CSI-IPT executes effectively within the contract commercial framework.

  • Have demonstrated management experience in an organisation, delivering complex systems solutions.

  • Establish and operate the Workplace Health and Safety Management System, including engagement with WHS resources and Partner organisations

  • Develop and implement the national facilities strategy

  • Be a member of the Management Team

  • Provide leadership of the Business Operations Team

  • Provide Control Account Management for work packages across multiple tasking statements.

  • Be accountable for the responsibilities of the Business Operations team members

  • Report on contract execution to senior stakeholders.

  • Develop and operate the Information Communications Technology (ICT) strategy and roadmap.

  • Be responsible for implementing and establishing the CSI Management System and its governance framework.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • A degree qualified is desirable in either Project Management, Business, Commercial or Engineering (preferable).

  • Post graduate level qualifications in Engineering, Project Management or Business Management/Administration is desirable.

  • 5+ years of Program Manger or Business Operations Manager experience in a Defence acquisition environment is desirable.

  • Capable of achieving Registered Project Management status with AIPM is desirable.

  • Senior Management Professional with demonstrated experience within a project orientated organisation with significant exposure in managing complex projects.

  • Demonstrated negotiation and interrelationship skills with the ability to achieve outcomes in a multi-disciplined, multi-party environment.

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.

  • Broad based competency in the management complex engineering development projects.

  • Experience implementing Project Management methodologies and continuous improvement techniques.
