CLIENT PLATFORM SPECIALIST
The role
As part of Saab’s IT group, the Client Platform Specialist will play a key role in sustaining legacy environments, and modern collaboration platforms for the Naval Combat Systems business area.
This dynamic multi-faceted role requires a flexible and purpose-driven individual to work in three capacities:
- Sustain & maintain legacy IT environments supporting a static software development toolset image
- Represent SAAB IT within a virtual IT team and be the central point of contact for troubleshooting federated identity & access management within SAAB’s collaborative external cloud environments.
- Support the development and maintenance of Saab’s Enterprise Client Platforms and Endpoint Management Systems across Saab’s Classified and Unclassified environments acting as a member of the client platform team within SAAB Australia IT.
The Client Platform Specialist will contribute to the design and development of creative and innovative solutions that align with Saab’s architectural principles and strategies ensuring appropriate solutions are delivered that support Saab’s operational needs.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Support and maintain legacy Desktop Windows OS environments in accordance with customer needs
- Design, Implement and Sustain Saab’s Enterprise Client Platforms and Management Systems
- Support system installations, problem solving and testing to ensure the availability, validity and reliability of Saab’s computing environments
- Work with and liaise with business and project teams to develop suitable solutions across a varied array of technologies
- Liaise and maintain working relationships with key staff, projects and third-party partners to drive solution outcomes
- Troubleshoot and resolve assigned incidents and/or service requests whilst ensuring prompt professional service
- Work, communicate and cross-skill with other members of the Client Platform team, and where appropriate with the greater IT group.
- Create and maintain current state operational documentation
- Report and communicate with IT Management on key issues and task outcomes
- Actively participate in regular operational meetings as team and business needs dictate
- Some domestic travel may be required to other Saab offices
- Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement by driving efficiencies across all Client Platform technologies
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office will be considered for this role after discussion with the manager.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Hands on experience working within a Client / End User Computing platform support team, or similar, supporting corporate and/or development client platforms (Defence experience desirable)
- Experience in Modern Workplace and large enterprises
- Broad knowledge and experience deploying, administering and managing enterprise SOE.
- Technical understanding and working knowledge of many of the following technologies:
- Virtualisation, i.e. VMware vCenter, ESXi, Citrix VDI;
- Endpoint Control/Management Systems, such as Application Control, DLP, etc.;
- Scripting languages, such as PowerShell;
- Networking Services, i.e. IPAM, DNS, DHCP, 802.1x, etc.; and
- Microsoft cloud technologies such as MS Entra, Intune, ect
- Demonstrated experience in supporting laptop, workstation, telephony and video conferencing technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in desktop imaging with legacy operating systems and hardware
- High-level problem-solving skills including the ability to obtain and interpret information and make specific recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication and interaction with other people at appropriate levels of an organisation
- Experience with Linux technologies, i.e. Debian, CentOS, Red Hat, Docker, etc.; would be advantageous
- Proven experience in successfully managing business change through ITIL processes
- Experience and knowledge in adopting and complying to cyber-security best practices
- Able to adapt to changing priorities, tasks and requirements
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to preferably NV1/NV2 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
