Saab, Inc. is in search of a motivated, enthusiastic cybersecurity student who would be interested in putting their studies to real-work practice through a Co-op/Intern opportunity at our Collamer location in East Syracuse, NY. This assignment is for the 2023 Spring semester (January - April)
In addition to a competitive hourly rate, Saab Inc. offers a sign-on bonus to off-set housing expenses for Co-ops residing outside the typical office commuting distance.
As part of the Information Security group, you will be working with our Information Security Engineers to perform real-time monitoring of our information systems.
Responsibilities and learning opportunities include:
Performs security assessments of applications and systems using penetration and vulnerability testing
Assist with risk analysis.
Configure and investigate security alerts.
Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate with IT to implement software fixes to remove system vulnerabilities
Respond immediately to cybersecurity-related incidents and assists in investigations
Incident response using forensic investigation techniques.
Develop, apply, and assess secure technical baselines for various applications and products (i.e. Windows OS, Linux OS, firewalls, switches, etc.
Skills and Experience:
Basic understanding of networks/subnet masks/gateways/routers/VLANs.
Well-organized with the ability to thrive in fast-paced high-stress scenarios.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team building experience working in an international environment.
Enrollment in an accredited degree program with a major in Cybersecurity or related discipline
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
Must have completed Sophomore year or greater
Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
