Your Role

As a Combat System Engineer (CSE), you will have an important role, with great responsibility, in our projects delivering total naval combat systems solutions to the end customer. We integrate a wide range of systems and sensors into solutions which together provide the required capability to our customers. Combat systems engineers are the ones responsible for integrating all the systems into a system of systems solution.

You will be having the responsibility to manage the technical scope of your assigned systems and/or domain. The role is multi-disciplinary and dynamic and your task will vary during the progress of the project. You will take the systems through the process of defining the required capabilities, translating these into clear and verifiable requirements, selecting suppliers, integrating the systems into the platform and verifying that the system requirements are fulfilled. As a CSE, your days will be varied and filled with opportunities to demonstrate your problem-solving abilities.

In your role as a CSE, you will work closely with the Technical Project Manager who has the overall responsibility for the Combat System technical solution to the project. You are the point of contact for your domain and you will have extensive contacts with both our customers and our suppliers. Within your domain and area of responsibility, you will be responsible for interfacing and coordinating sub-suppliers, stakeholders, specialty engineers and shipyard to ensure the performance of the project.

The main tasks will include executing the assigned CSE tasks as a member of the project team:

  • Representative towards the customer within your domain
  • Technical requirements analysis and requirements management
  • Managing the verification of all the domain requirements
  • Managing sub-suppliers
  • Management and definition of Interface Specifications
  • Ship/Platform integration
  • Coordination of cross-functional specialists (System Safety, Integrated Logistic Support, Electro Magnetic Engineering etc.)

Other responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the necessary documentation and quality requirements associated with the tasks are fulfilled
  • Working with the technical representatives of the various sub-supplier organizations to ensure their best possible technical solution and support
  • Participate during tender phase by analyzing customer requirements, evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts

Your Profile

You are a confident communicator in English. You share information in a clear and easy way, verbally and in writing. You have a collaborative mind-set and you are a true team player. You will be working in a given project and must thus enjoy teamwork within a competent and motivated team.
 

You are self-driven and result-oriented with a “get the job done” attitude. Curiosity and the ability to learn new technical areas are necessary attributes for the role.

The ability to take responsibility for the execution and successful completion of assigned tasks within time and budget is essential.
 

We believe that you have a solid technical background with a wide technical knowledge base.

Required skills:

  • Formal degree in Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in requirements analysis and requirements management
  • Experience in working on a system of systems level
  • Experience in working with system/solution design
  • Experience with working in integrated project teams

Desired skills:

  • Experience in the naval domain and or defense industry
  • Experience in Naval Combat Systems
  • INCOSE based Systems Engineering experience
  • Experience in managing sub-suppliers
  • Experience with customer-based acceptance processes
  • Experience in technical and solution trade-off analyses

The position will require traveling, depending on the program phase and requirements.

In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defense secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.
