The role

Saab Australia is seeking aspiring Combat System Safety Engineer to join our growing teams in WA. This role offers the opportunity to develop your System Safety Engineer skills while supporting the delivery and sustainment of leading-edge defence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain system safety program plans, processes, and frameworks
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk analysis
  • Contribute to the development of Safety assessment reports, Safety case documentation.
  • Perform safety analysis in support of design changes, engineering updates, system problem reports.
  • Establish and maintain safety requirements, ensuring traceability, verification, and implementation of mitigation controls.
  • Support broader systems engineering activities and apply engineering governance processes relevant to the safety-critical defence systems.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of verification and validation (V&V) activities.

 

About you
Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in safety engineering across complex software-intensive systems
  • Strong capability in: Hazard identification and risk assessment, Safety requirements development, Safety architecture and design, Safety verification and validation, and Safety case development.
  • Working knowledge of contemporary safety engineering standards and best practice, including MIL-STD-882
  • Experience working within structured engineering lifecycle environments


Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
