The Commodity Strategic Purchaser is responsible for the end-to-end contractor performance management and strategic sourcing in-line with agreed KPIs. The role entails coordinating complex contractor performance and strategic sourcing activities and will serve as a key contributor to improving operational efficiency and supporting the ongoing management of SGD’s supplier base.
The role will be reporting to Manager: Strategic Procurement
Your role:
Collaboration with Product Owner, Planning, Production, Warehousing, and Quality Assurance, to ensure a smooth holistic understanding of the product and successful alignment of procurement efforts towards the needs of serial production deliveries.
Responsible for the assembly of teams, coordination, management of prioritization, and the inclusion of resources required to fulfil the internal customer needs.
Develop strategies to enable on-time delivery of outsourced/sub-contracted manufacturing requirements.
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Identify and qualify potential suppliers.
Conduct negotiations, including but not limited to price, delivery, and terms and conditions.
Understand and apply contractual terms and conditions.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in the procurement process.
Assist in Supplier Selection and Evaluation:
Assist in in evaluation of potential suppliers.
Inventory Management:
Risk Management:
Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing mitigation strategies.
Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Cost Management:
Monitoring and controlling procurement costs.
Implementing cost-saving initiatives and optimizing purchasing processes.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Maintaining healthy relationships with suppliers.
Regular interaction with suppliers to provide OTD and Quality feedback
Reporting and Analysis:
Tracking procurement performance metrics and generating reports.
Analyzing procurement data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Your profile
Required Knowledge:
Good knowledge of supplier markets, customer requirements and business intelligence in general.
Knowledge about strategic procurement, production planning, manufacturing and project management processes.
Required Experience:
At least 5 years of strategic sourcing, contracts management and project management experience.
10 years of related experience, with at least 5 years of procurement, strategic procurement and project management experience.
Verifiable experience in contractor performance management, strategic sourcing and project management.
Supplier relationship management, effective stakeholder engagement and strategic sourcing.
An understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Good understanding of relevant Commercial Law, International Commercial law, Export and Import Control regulations, INCO terms and fiduciary responsibilities.
Ability to work independently in delivering complex market analysis, strategic sourcing, negotiation, contracts management, cost, variance, root cause and risk analysis
Ability to apply good technical and commercial judgement and to develop and execute medium to long-term development of strategic business relationships
Benchmarking, best practices and key learning implementation
Development, analysis and optimisation of Process Flows in a complex manufacturing and engineering environment
