The role

As part of our Civil Solutions group, the Configuration and Data Specialist is primarily responsible for providing engineering configuration management (CM), and document and data management services for the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Program and its projects. The role involves engineering baseline identification and management within the CM toolset, support for change, configuration and review boards, support for CM audits, and liaising with project and engineering personnel to ensure that data, documentation and media are catalogued, stored and retrievable.

Further, the role will involve: 

Configuration Management:

  • Ensure CM processes align with the Saab Global Management System
  • Coordinate management of engineering data, documentation and technical media
  • Support the conduct of Engineering Review Boards and Change Control Boards, and manage the outcomes
  • Register, track and report on the progress of approved configuration changes in work products
  • Participate in physical configuration audits (as required), and associated reviews
  • Create and maintain system and product breakdown structures for the Air Traffic Management System and sites, in consultation with engineering stakeholders
  • Prepare and issue Configuration Status Account Reports (CSARs) in accordance with CM plans and procedures.

Data Management:

  • Receive, register, control and distribute supplier and customer data, documentation and media
  • Manage the distribution of controlled project data, documentation and media
  • File, index and retrieve records in support of ATM program requirements
  • Prepare, register and dispatch data, documentation and media for delivery or archiving
  • Assist in the preparation of software releases by preparing status accounts for the released software.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • 5+ years defence or air traffic management industry experience in project-based team or product engineering management environment (desirable)
  • Industry recognised configuration and data management training or equivalent professional experience
  • Exposure to the ASDEFCON suite of templates and contracting framework (desirable)
  • Understanding of the Configuration Management Standard EIA649C (desirable)
  • Stakeholder management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Specialist configuration management tools and/or engineering data management systems
  • IFS Applications – Enterprise Solutions (desirable)
  • Implementing PLM strategies
  • Training users of configuration management tools and/or Engineering data management systems
  • Administration of information using MS SharePoint or other document management system(s).
