The opportunity
Saab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.
The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.
The role
Working within the DDG Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team the CSI-IPT Combat Systems Engineer will contribute to the development of the guided-missile destroyer (DDG) requirements baseline and the successful delivery of updated DDG specifications, which are part of the broader Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrade.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Contribute to and execute Combat System Systems Engineering activities that support requirements analysis, architecture definition and development of subsystems and associated components in preparation for integration, test and trials/evaluation
- Develop, maintain and update system functional and non-functional requirements and design artefacts
- Prepare for and support the execution of major program milestones such as design reviews, test readiness and system readiness reviews
- Develop, prosecute and support the implementation of approved engineering changes
- Interact with specialty engineering disciplines, including but not limited to safety, human factors, cyber, topside and ILS for the purposes of achieving design assurance and holistic system compliance.
Flexible work arrangements such as a 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- The systems engineering lifecycle, methods, tools and techniques
- Working in an engineering project multi-disciplinary environment (preferably within the defence industry)
- Working with a broad set of internal stakeholders and external partnering organisations to achieve common goals
- Development methodologies on complex modern systems using a documented process
- Desirable
- Integration, test and evaluation activities of on naval platforms or complex military systems (desirable)
- Combat System requirements within a maritime context (desirable)
- Knowledge or understanding in one or more of the C4ISREW or Combat System Warfare Domains (i.e. Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare) (desirable).
Applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
