Deputy Group CIO & Head of CIO Office

Stockholm,
Sweden
Closing date: 8 May 2026

Step into a broad leadership role at the heart of Saab’s digital transformation. As Deputy Group CIO and Head of CIO Office, you will drive strategic IT initiatives, build core capabilities, and shape how technology and Enterprise Architecture enable Saab’s mission in a rapidly evolving defence and security landscape.

Your role

As Deputy Group CIO & Head of CIO Office at Saab Group IT, you will support the Group CIO in leading the strategic direction of IT across the organisation. A central part of your mandate is to ensure that Enterprise Architecture serves as a key enabler of business strategy, driving alignment, standardisation, and long-term value creation across Saab.

You will drive Saab’s IT agenda forward by ensuring close alignment between IT strategy and business needs, and by enabling efficient execution across core IT and related functions.

You will lead a central team with responsibility for several key cross-functional areas within the IT organisation, including Enterprise Architecture, IT governance, portfolio management, and strategic planning.

The role includes line management of senior leaders and close collaboration across the organisation to ensure cohesion between strategic direction and operational delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Evolve the Enterprise Architecture function, ensuring it provides clear direction, actionable roadmaps, and governance across business, application, data, and technology domains
  • Ensure architecture principles and standards are embedded in decision-making, investment planning, and execution
  • Drive the development of the CIO Office, ensuring the right capabilities, frameworks, and engagement models are in place to support Saab’s digital ambitions
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and organisational planning within your scope
  • Contribute to and shape Saab’s IT operating model, governance structures, and quality frameworks, with Enterprise Architecture as a foundational pillar

This is a highly visible position that involves frequent interaction with executive stakeholders. You will represent Group IT in cross-functional discussions and play a central role in enabling Saab’s continued transformation journey.

Your profile

We are looking for a senior leader with extensive experience managing complex IT organisations in a global context, combined with deep expertise in Enterprise Architecture as a strategic discipline.

You have a strong track record of driving digital transformation and organisational change, with a deep understanding of IT strategy, governance, and modern technology landscapes including cloud, AI, and platform thinking. You understand how Enterprise Architecture can be used to create clarity, scalability, and business value in large, complex environments.

You combine strategic thinking with a strong drive for execution. You are structured, communicative, and clear in your approach, while also pragmatic and able to build trust across diverse stakeholder groups. You know how to lead through others, create engagement, and navigate change in large organisations.

You are a relationship-oriented leader who is comfortable representing IT at top management level and can clearly articulate the rationale behind strategic decisions.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Academic degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of IT management experience, including several years of leadership of leaders
  • Extensive experience in Enterprise Architecture leadership, including defining and governing architecture across large organisations
  • Proven experience from digital transformation and large-scale IT programs
  • Strong background in IT strategy, enterprise architecture, governance, and project management
  • Experience from large, complex organisations; ideally including defence or global industrial/manufacturing companies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes
  • Fluency in both Swedish and English, both written and spoken
