DevSecOps Engineer's - EdgeRunner

The role

As part of our Systems Delivery Group, the Senior DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner & DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner roles will contribute to the future development of the Saab 9LV Combat Management System (CMS), a naval command and control system that integrates sensors, weapons, and data to provide situational awareness and decision support for maritime operations. The EdgeRunner project looks to design and develop an innovative runtime platform supporting future 9LV CMS capability.

Senior DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner

The role is supporting the design and development of a robust runtime platform supporting the 9LV CMS within the EdgeRunner project. This includes ensuring the platform meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements while enabling seamless integration with existing systems and future capabilities.

The position also drives best practices in platform engineering, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to align technical solutions with operational and mission needs.

DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner

The role is supporting the design and development of a robust runtime platform supporting the 9LV CMS within the EdgeRunner project. This includes ensuring the platform meets performance, scalability, and reliability requirements while enabling seamless integration with existing systems and future capabilities.

Further, the successful candidate will:

Senior DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner

  • Act as the Product Owner for the assigned EdgeRunner DevSecOps based activities
  • Lead the technical direction of the EdgeRunner team and provide architectural and SME guidance on specification, design, implementation, integration, testing and deployment activities.
  • Lead the analysis, prototyping, design, implementation, measurement, and presentation activities for DevSecOps based solutions.
  • Build relationships and drive coordination with internal and external stakeholders (for example, other Saab Australia 9LV engineering teams, Saab Australia support functions and Saab Global 9LV engineering teams.):
  • Identify and manage internal and external facing needs in the exploration of the aims for EdgeRunner.
  • Ensure global alignment of EdgeRunner goals.
  • Mentor and coach the EdgeRunner team to ensure their design and implementation is consistent with the EdgeRunner architecture and DevSecOps practices.

DevSecOps Engineer – EdgeRunner

  • Active in the completion of planned EdgeRunner activities.
  • Active in developing specification, design, implementation, integration, testing and deployment activities.
  • Active in analysis, prototype, design, implementation, measurement, and presentation activities for DevSecOps based solutions.
  • Maintain relationships and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (for example, other Saab Australia 9LV engineering teams, Saab Australia support functions and Saab Global 9LV engineering teams.)

Flexible work arrangements such as a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your education skills and experience will include:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications (bachelor’s degree) in a relevant discipline (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field etc.), and/or equivalent relevant experience (preferably within the defence industry).
  • Broad understanding of technology and technology trends.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud, zero trust architecture and messaging bus architectures technologies and technology trends.
  • Scripting skills using languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Demonstrated experience of:
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery concepts.
  • Implementing CI/CD solutions.
  • Implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions
  • Building and deploying containerised applications.
  • Application and infrastructure monitoring and incident response
  • Configuration tools such as Ansible
  • monitoring and analytic tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack
  • Linux, open-source applications and tools management
  • containerised applications.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • Experience with:
  • Agile principles, practices and processes.
  • Analysing and implementing ASD ISM controls.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level.
