Director, Mergers & Acquisitions

We are looking for an experienced M&A professional to join our central M&A, Ventures & Partnerships team as Director M&A, playing a key role in driving and executing strategic transactions across Saab.

Your role

In this role, you will take a leading role in executing acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and minority investments across an international business portfolio. You will operate at the center of a decentralized organization, working closely with Business Areas and Business Units as they define strategic priorities and develop investment cases.

As part of the central M&A team, you will act as a transaction expert and trusted advisor, bringing strategic perspective and transaction expertise throughout the deal process.

In this role you will;

  • Lead and take ownership of the end-to-end execution of acquisitions, divestments, minority investments and joint ventures.
  • Manage all phases of the deal process including valuation, due diligence, negotiation, structuring, signing, closing and post-closing follow-up.
  • Partner closely with Business Areas and Business Units to assess strategic opportunities, challenge assumptions and support informed investment decisions, while ensuring high-quality and best-practice transaction execution.
  • Lead and coordinate internal stakeholders and external advisors throughout the transaction process.
  • Contribute to minority investments, venture investments and portfolio management activities, including evaluating opportunities and supporting the development of existing investments.
  • Continuously develop and improve the Group's M&A processes, tools and methodologies to strengthen transaction quality and efficiency.

Your profile

Beyond your transaction expertise, you are a strategic and commercially minded professional with strong analytical and execution capabilities.

You combine a strong attention to detail with a broader perspective on value creation and can navigate complex situations with sound judgement. As a strong project leader, you bring structure, pace and clarity to transactions and effectively align business teams, internal stakeholders and external advisors throughout the process.

To be successful in this role you bring

  • A proven track record of leading complex transactions end-to-end, from origination and strategic assessment through negotiation and closing.
  • Strong capabilities in financial modelling, valuation and deal structuring, combined with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of acquisitions, divestments and minority investments.
  • 8–15+ years of relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, transaction advisory or a similar field.
  • International transaction experience, ideally gained across multiple markets and business environments.
  • Experience with minority investments, corporate venture capital or portfolio management is highly desirable.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
