Your role

Saab AB, Business Area Surveillance is seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Director, Strategic Planning to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our organization by leading the development and execution of comprehensive strategic business plans.

In addition, as a member of the Surveillance Strategy & Portfolio function you are expected to contribute and/or drive initiatives and activities related to all areas addressed in our Strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning process, collaborating closely with the finance department, business units, international operations and country units, HR, and the COO organization. This involves facilitating workshops, conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and gathering insights from key stakeholders.
  • According to the Saab Strategy creation process, develop and implement robust strategic business plans that align with the company's overall vision, mission, and objectives. This includes identifying growth opportunities, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and outlining actionable strategies for achieving desired outcomes.
  • Financial Understanding and Analysis: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's financial position and performance, working closely with the finance department to ensure financial alignment. Forecast financial performance, evaluate investment opportunities, and ensure strategic initiatives are financially viable and aligned with budgetary constraints.
  • Strategy Execution/Operational Integration: Collaborate with other functions and business units to integrate strategic initiatives into operational plans, ensuring effective implementation across all departments.
  • Monitor and Improve: Track progress against KPIs, identify areas for improvement, and develop reporting mechanisms to make data-driven recommendations for course correction.
  • Effective Communication: Clearly communicate strategic plans and progress updates to senior management and stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other communication materials.
  • Strategic Workforce Planning: Collaborate with HR to develop and implement a strategic workforce planning process to align talent strategies with the company's overall direction.
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Continuously learn about industry best practices and emerging trends to enhance the strategic planning process and ensure alignment with market dynamics.
  • Transformation leadership: As a member of Business Area Surveillance Strategy & Portfolio function, you are expected to contribute with expertise and experience to the Surveillance in all areas of our strategy. Including acting as an ambassador, providing strategic guidance, and supporting transformation initiatives.

Your profile

For this role, we see it as meritorious if you have experience in the defenceindustry and familiarity with relevant market trends and competitive landscape.

In addition to experience from the defense industry, we would like to see the following in the application:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of proven experience in strategic planning, preferably within a complex and dynamic organisation
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex projects in an international organisation, working independently and as part of a team

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
