The Role:
We have x2 apprenticeship roles available, these roles are part of our Saab Seaeye business unit in Fareham.
You will:
To learn and develop practical skills in the assembly, manufacture and test of electrical and electronic assemblies and products.
To develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to successfully complete a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship whilst gaining hands-on experience within a manufacturing and engineering environment.
To gain an understanding of how to deliver products that meet requirements of quality, cost and delivery whilst completing structured workplace and academic training.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning how to carry out testing and validation activities for electronic assemblies, printed circuit boards (PCBs) and products in line with approved procedures and quality standards.
Developing skills in manufacturing activities including soldering, wiring, loom assembly and electrical terminations under supervision.
Gaining an understanding of engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical documentation.
Assisting with fault finding activities and learning how to investigate product non-conformances under the guidance of engineers and technicians.
Learning how to maintain manufacturing and test records using company systems and documentation.
Assisting engineers and technicians in manufacturing, testing and engineering activities as part of training and development.
Developing knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and quality standards used within production.
Participating in continuous improvement and workplace organisation activities.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across engineering, production and quality functions.
Completing all academic and workplace requirements associated with the Level 4 Engineering Apprenticeship.
Qualifications and Skills:
Essential Qualifications:
Level 3 Engineering qualification (Diploma, NVQ, BTEC, T level Engineering or equivalent)
And
GCSE English Language Grade 6 or above.
GCSE Mathematics Grade 6 or above.
Or
5 GCSE’s at Grade 6 including:
GCSE English Language Grade 6 or above.
GCSE Mathematics Grade 6 or above.
Desirable:
Electrical and Electronic Engineering: An interest in developing knowledge of electrical and electronic assemblies, components and systems.
Manufacturing Processes: Willingness to learn manufacturing, assembly, testing and quality control processes.
Technical Problem Solving: Developing ability to apply logical thinking to identify and resolve issues with support and guidance.
Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians and production personnel.
Attention to Detail: Ability to work accurately and follow procedures and instructions.
Working towards a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship and Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering.
Hands-On Activities: Interest in engineering, electronics, STEM activities or practical projects is advantageous.
Relevant certifications, technical hobbies or engineering projects are also a plus.
