The role
As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, The Field Service Senior Technical Officer will support a technical team responsible for testing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading a wide range of electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment primarily associated with the 9LV MK3E Combat Management System projects.
The FSSTO will coordinate, manage and deliver corrective and planned maintenance activities
Further, the successful candidate will:
Technical duties include:
- Provide platform and/or equipment specific SME support to the Sustainment team and assume the lead role in the associated maintenance activities.
- Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance activities on a wide range of electronic/electrical equipment, both low voltage and extra low voltage.
- Fault find and repair electronic/electrical equipment, from deeper maintenance through to component level.
- Produce technical reports and testing procedures, review and maintain technical documentation.
- Collaborate effectively and provide advice to stakeholders for the successful support and maintainability of equipment.
Technical Leadership duties include:
- Supporting the delivery of a safety-first culture and the implementation of safe working processes and procedures.
- Act as the platform and/or system primary point of contact for the customer for all matters relating to technical services.
- Leadership, management and training of Technical Officers.
- Management of task performance, issues, change management and task completion activities.
- Management of the workshop and undertaking the day-to-day coordination of workshop activities.
- Deliver quality control and work activities and deliverables.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your education, skills and experience will include:
- Certificate III in Electronics and Communications Engineering (or related discipline) (Mandatory)
- Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications Engineering (or related discipline) (Desirable
Essential Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in a related engineering and/or management/Business field.
- 5 to 10 years industry experience in a similar engineering environment, supporting medium subsystems or group of smaller subsystems and/or equipment.
- Experience in managing teams in the conduct or maintenance and repairs to a system.
- Adequate technical experience (maintenance, repairs, modifications, installations, set to work etc) in one or more of the following domains:
- Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence Systems (C4I)
- Combat Management Systems
- Command Support Systems;
- Maintenance of electromechanical and hydraulic systems
- Proficiency in IPC workmanship standards
Desirable Experience
- Working knowledge of Asset Management and Planning Systems (AMPS).
- Able to travel interstate and/or overseas as required
- Demonstrated experience in project and/or complex task management.
- Ability to manage multiple demands and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and clients.
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to preferably NV1 level or have the ability to gain one.
