General Manager - ATM

The role

As part of our Civil Group, the General Manager ATM – Saab ATM AU will report to the Head of Project Execution with a secondary reporting relationship to the CEO of Saab ATM AB and is accountable for the delivery and growth of existing and new ATM project execution developing sustainable business and customer relations. This position is in addition responsible for the effective leadership and guidance of ATM business in Australia. The position is also responsible for managing staff and ATM Australia office location. The position serves as the critical bridge between Saab ATM's global organization and local Australian operations, balancing strategic business leadership with day-to-day operational and delivery management.

Further, the successful candidate will:

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and represent Saab ATM's Australian operations as the senior local representative, ensuring alignment with global strategy and business objectives.
  • Provide organizational leadership and oversight to ensure successful project and program delivery in collaboration with Program and Project Managers.
  • Drive operational excellence through effective resource management, utilization planning, and adherence to delivery standards, processes, and quality requirements.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for Saab ATM Australia.
  • Contribute to business development activities, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across Saab ATM.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, government stakeholders, and industry representatives to strengthen Saab ATM's local presence, brand, and reputation.
  • Act as the key link between Australian operations and global leadership, providing transparent reporting, governance, and performance management.

Site & Operational Oversight

  • Establish and oversee the Melbourne office, ensuring effective operations, governance, compliance, and risk management and alignment with Saab ATM's global processes and standards.
  • Ensure a well-functioning operating model across local functions and provide oversight of delivery from a business, operational, and risk perspective.
  • Act within prescribed financial limits and other delegated authorities, and comply with legislation and company policies, processes, and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care, and the quality management system.

Strategic Alignment & Governance

  • Drive the implementation of Saab ATM's strategic priorities and support future growth opportunities in Australia and the APAC region.
  • Act as the key link between Australian operations and Saab ATM global leadership, contributing regional insights to strategy development and business planning.
  • Ensure structured governance, transparent reporting, performance monitoring, and risk management to support informed decision-making and accountability.

People & Culture Enablement

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Australian Project Execution team, fostering a high-performing culture aligned with Saab ATM values and focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and capability development to attract, retain, and develop talent that supports current and future business needs.
  • Support leadership development and organizational growth as the Australian business expands.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your qualifications, skills and experience will include:

  • Business Management, MBA or similar qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
  • Technical Project/Program Management/Engineering qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven leadership with proven ability to set direction, motivate and engage technical teams.
  • Extensive experience across software development and complex program/project delivery in Air Traffic Control domain.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and industry networks.
  • Sound understanding of Business Management including People, Finance, Commercial Business Development and Project Management.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Flexibility to support operations across global time zones.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level.
