Want to influence the bigger picture? At Saab, you can realise amazing innovations that keep people and societies safe. Together, we make an impact – and your part matters.
Your Role
Saab Air Traffic Management is a global leader in digital tower and air traffic control solutions. As we expand our capabilities in mobile Air Traffic Management systems, we are now looking for a Head of Deployable Projects to build and lead this growing area.
This is a key leadership role where you will both lead and shape a growing group responsible for delivering mobile air traffic management solutions to customers worldwide.
Your team delivers advanced, safety-critical systems combining Saab-developed software, proprietary hardware platforms, and external supplier components. These systems are deployed as fully integrated, real-world solutions – including container-based mast and camera solution, visual presentation and integration with other airport systems.
You will lead a team consisting of Project Managers and System Engineers, responsible for end-to-end delivery – from system design and integration to deployment and handover into operational use.
As the organisation is under development, you will have a unique opportunity to define how we work, build capabilities, and establish scalable ways of delivering mobile systems globally.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Building, leading, and developing a growing organisation of Project Managers and System Engineers
- Ensuring successful end-to-end delivery of customer projects (scope, quality, cost, and timeline)
- Establishing and evolving project governance, delivery models, and ways of working
- Creating strong collaboration between system engineering, project execution, product development, and other stakeholders
- Securing effective planning and utilisation of cross-functional resources (software, hardware, systems, suppliers)
- Driving proactive risk management, integration planning, and deployment readiness
- Acting as a senior escalation point for customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Strengthening supplier coordination and delivery performance across the value chain
- Driving continuous improvement, standardisation, and scalability in how we deploy mobile ATM solutions
- Contributing to the strategic development of this new capability area within the business as part of the Project Execution global leadership team
Your Profile
We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong background in delivering complex, system-oriented solutions in software-intensive and preferably safety-critical environments.
You understand the full lifecycle of advanced technical systems – from architecture and integration to deployment and operational handover – and know how to organise teams to succeed in this context.
You are motivated by the opportunity to build something new, providing structure, direction, and clarity in a growing organisation.
We are looking for candidates with:
Extensive experience leading project delivery organisations, programmes, or engineering-driven delivery teams
Proven success in delivering complex systems combining software, hardware, and external suppliers
Experience working closely with system engineering functions and integration-heavy deliveries
Strong leadership experience, including building teams and developing both managers and specialists
Solid understanding of project governance, system delivery, and risk management
Experience from regulated, safety-critical, or mission-critical environments
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to drive structure, accountability, and continuous improvement in a growing organisation
Fluency in English and Swedish, written and spoken
Experience from the air traffic management domain or mobile/deployable systems is considered an advantage.
You are a confident and forward-leaning leader who thrives in building organisations and creating clarity in complex environments. You enable your teams to succeed by setting direction, removing obstacles, and fostering a strong sense of ownership and collaboration.
