In this role you will be responsible for leading environmental and sustainability work for Business Area Aeronautics. In this role, you will require skills to collaborate internally with our Business Units, Staff functions, other Business areas and Group Functions as well as externally with authorities and certification organisations.
Your role
Your will be responsible for ensuring proactive Business Area compliance in meeting Saab, Customer and Authority requirements with respect to environment and sustainability and ensuring proactive support towards Business Units in environmental and sustainable development and operations.
Your main tasks will be:
- To manage and improve the environmental and sustainability work within the Business Area in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, internal targets, decisions and plans.
- To ensure governance and compliance with environmental/sustainability legislation at a Business Area and Business Unit level.
- Own, drive and chair the Business Area Environment Council comprising representatives from Business Units to ensure continuous improvement and collaboration according to agreed plans.
- To ensure timely environmental and sustainability reporting in accordance with both customer and authority requirements.
- Ensure organisational effectiveness by providing leadership and direction for Aeronautics Environment and Sustainability function, including performance management by developing and converting environmental strategies and objectives to functional targets and activities.
- Cooperate with other units and functions to support our business by setting directions and help implement way of working.
- To be the point of contact regarding environmental and sustainability matters towards environmental authorities.
- To drive, analyze and coordinate our business needs in short- and long-term within the area of environment and sustainability.
- To be responsible for the Business Area environmental management system, including, support audits towards ISO 14001 and performing management reviews according to the standard.
- To act as the primary liaison between Business Area Aeronautics, Saab Group and other Business Areas in relation to coordinated Environment and Sustainability work.
- To participate in and contribute to the Saab Environment and Sustainability Councils.
This role reports to Business Area Aeronautics Head of Operational Excellence and functional reporting to Saab Group Environment and Saab Group Sustainability. You will lead your own Environment and Sustainability Team and be part of the Operational Excellence Management Team.
The position is based in Sweden at one of our Saab Aeronautics sites in Linköping or Arboga. Business trips, mainly in Sweden but also internationally are required.

As Head of Environment and Sustainability you:
- Have a strong understanding of how evolving environmental and sustainability requirements impact business and you contribute to the Business Area overall strategy to meet these requirements.
- Have a University/High School Bachelor/Master degree and have extensive experience in leading environmental and sustainability work in an industrial/product-based organisation.
- Have good leadership skills, preferably with managerial experience, and strong communication skills.
- Have the ability to set targets and deliver against these through empowering your team and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Have a drive to develop and improve our operations to meet operational objectives.
- Have a good general knowledge in environmental legislation and have actively worked with ISO 14001 compliance.
- Have the ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written Swedish and English.
- Have the confidence to act independently in delivering day-to-day activities and strategic planning.

Since you will represent the function both internally and externally, you need to interact well with both stakeholders and colleagues and work across cultures.
