Head of Internal Control

Linköping,
Sweden
Closing date: 21 April 2026

Join Saab as Head of Internal Control and lead the development of our internal control process and framework while strengthening governance, trust and a strong culture of improvements across a global organisation.

Your role

This is a strategic leadership position combining operational responsibilities with advisory influence, offering the opportunity to shape a robust control culture in a global, listed company. As Head of Internal Control, you will be responsible for the continuous development of Saab’s internal control environment, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements. Your work will be central to maintaining trust in Saab’s financial and sustainability reporting.

A key part of the role is to lead and strengthen Saab’s governance structure. This includes taking responsibility for the Group’s Delegation of Authority (DoA), ensuring clear, aligned and well‑communicated decision‑making mandates across the organisation.

In addition, you will lead the development of a modern, efficient and as far as possible automated internal control framework, leveraging digital tools and data‑driven solutions to enhance quality and reduce manual workload. This includes continuously identifying and implementing enhancements that support scalability and high‑quality reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and ongoing improvement of Saab’s internal control process and framework
  • Develop and present the annual internal control plan to senior management and the Audit Committee.
  • Provide reporting to senior management and continuous monitoring in the Internal Control Management system.
  • Support the implementation of acquisitions, organisational changes, and new processes to ensure embedded or manual effective controls.
  • Manage and enhance the Internal Control Management System to support global operations.
  • Work closely with internal control representatives around the organisation.
  • Responsible for the Groups Delegation of Authorities.
  • Act as point of contact for financial auditors on internal control matters.

Beyond operational responsibilities, you will act as a trusted advisor across the organisation, collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen governance, improve internal control practices, and drive continuous improvement in processes and ways of working. You will also participate in the Corporate Control Management team.

You will work closely with Group Finance, business areas, and corporate functions, forming a central part of Saab’s governance ecosystem. This position provides exposure to senior leadership and the Audit Committee, giving you the opportunity to influence key decisions and foster a culture of accountability and excellence across the organisation.

Your profile

To succeed in this role, you bring extensive experience from internal control, internal audit, risk management or external audit, ideally from a large international organisation or a listed company. Experience from professional services firms working with audit, accounting or advisory services is also highly relevant, particularly where you have supported large organisations with governance frameworks, internal control assessments and financial reporting processes.

We believe you have:

  • Around 10 years of relevant experience within internal control, internal audit, risk management or external audit
  • Experience from an international and complex organisation, or from a professional services environment advising large companies on governance, risk and internal control matters
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks and internal control over financial and sustainability reporting
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and collaborate across functions and organisational levels
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex matters in a clear and structured way
  • Fluency in English and Swedish, both written and spoken

As a person, you are structured, proactive and able to combine a strategic perspective with attention to detail. You build trust through professionalism and integrity and have the ability to drive improvements while maintaining strong relationships across the organisation.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
