Your Role:

Saab Canada, Inc. is seeking an Industrial and Technological Benefits Specialist to support managing the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) / Value Proposition (VP) obligations for Canadian Defence programs. Additionally, this position will support the identification, development and execution of partnerships, business to business opportunities and investments to meet Saab’s ITB/VP obligations in Canada. As the ITB Specialist you will work closely with the ITB and Partnerships Manager to support the Head of Country Office Canada and be integrated with the business development, sales and marketing and program teams in Canada. You will be a collaborator with Industrial Cooperation (IC) personnel in Saab’s Business Areas and corporate IC personnel based in Sweden.  This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

This is an exciting and demanding role supporting Saab  growth journey in Canada.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support ITB/VP related activities from the development phase through the marketing phase (including the proposal phase), the execution phase all the way to the closing of the obligation
  • Development of ITB/VP Plans and transactions required to meet direct, indirect, small business, indigenous, and other elements of the government’s ITB/VP requirements.
  • Provide recommendations and assessments of compliance on proposed ITB/VP transactions.
  • Support ITB/VP reporting as required by the Government of Canada, including annual reporting, program reporting and ITB/VP transactions and content
  • Provide oversight on subcontractor ITB/VP implementation and reporting
  • Participate in events and monitor Canada’s defence industry structure in order to maximise partnership and investment opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the ITB Authorities and regional economic development agencies
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of the Canadian ITB Policy and advise how best to apply and implement this policy in Saab’s pursuit and execution of its programs in Canada
  • To coordinate and ensure that ITB/VP projects are documented, calculated, negotiated and reported in a manner consistent with both Canadian ITB requirements and Saab’s internal reporting responsibilities.
  • Support the development of proposal responses, specifically those sections related to the ITB/VP portion of the response
  • Work in alignment with Saab’s policies and directives
  • Other tasks within the Country Office as deemed relevant from time to time

Your Skills & Experience:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related discipline
  • 2+ years’ relevant work experience in an ITB, offset related, business development, or project management role
  • Experience with military procurement programs preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a global organization, with international reporting responsibilities preferred

Required Skills:

  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different business areas and group functions
  • The ability to compile complex material for presentation in writing and verbally
  • Possess a positive and outgoing personality with excellent communication skills, strong business acumen with high personal integrity in business ethics
  • Must be willing to travel in Canada and internationally when required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, especially during time sensitive situations
