The Role:
This role sits within our Saab Seaeye Business Unit.
Responsible for leading and developing the Integration Team at Saab Seaeye as well as leading the integration, test and commissioning of our Saab Seaeye products in order to meet our contractual and business requirements.
The Role:
To perform the duties of an Integration Engineer whilst acting as the technical authority for vehicle integration, system functionality and fault diagnosis. The role provides day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring to the Integration team, supporting the Team Leader in delivering safe, efficient and right-first-time integration, testing and commissioning activities. The Integration Systems Specialist will develop technical capability, maintain product knowledge and drive continuous improvement across current and future vehicle platforms.
Technical leadership responsibilities:
- Be recognised as the technical authority for the Integration department, providing technical leadership during complex integration, acceptance testing and non-conformance resolution.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentoring to Integration Engineers, Technicians and Apprentices, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.
- Act as the first point of contact for complex assembly, integration and test issues, supporting the Team Leader with technical planning, risk identification and problem resolution.
- Promote best practice in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic integration techniques.
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge of Saab Seaeye vehicle systems, customer configurations and future product developments.
- Work closely with Engineering, Product Management and Customer Support to transfer product knowledge into manufacturing, identify recurring issues and drive improvements to reliability, manufacturability and serviceability.
- Lead technical investigations into complex faults and implement robust corrective actions.
- Work with Production Engineering to develop work instructions, technical guidance and structured training to build capability across the Integration team.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing and customer demonstrations by ensuring systems and engineers are fully prepared.
Integration Engineer responsibilities
- Integrate, configure and test complete vehicle systems in accordance with customer specifications and company documentation.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, electronic, hydraulic and mechanical faults, raising improvement opportunities through the Engineering Change process.
- Interpret engineering drawings, configuration documentation and technical information to support assembly, testing and commissioning.
- Provide customer support, Factory Acceptance Testing and offshore commissioning as required.
- Maintain high standards of quality, 6S, safety and professional conduct.
Preferred skills and experience
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive experience integrating complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Expert knowledge of Saab Seaeye vehicle systems and associated support equipment.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical, hydraulic and communication systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting Factory Acceptance Testing, offshore commissioning or customer support.
- Excellent communication, mentoring and coaching skills.
- Continuous improvement mind-set.
