MANAGER IT DELIVERY

Make a meaningful impact by leading the delivery of critical technology outcomes that support Australia’s defence capability. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Delivery Manager to join a high-performing team and shape how complex solutions are delivered across Saab Australia.

Reporting to the Head of IT/CIO, you will lead the Deliver phase of our Demand-Deliver-Service IT Operating Model. In this influential leadership role, you will turn strategic priorities into practical outcomes by guiding the planning, execution and quality of IT projects and solutions across the organisation.

You will own the full delivery lifecycle, from prioritised demand and solution design through to build, testing and transition into operations. You will set teams up for success by combining strong project governance with modern, adaptable delivery methods, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable, maintainable and easy to use.

Leading cross-functional delivery squads, you will work closely with IT Strategy and Governance, IT Demand and IT Service Operations. You will create an environment where talented people collaborate, solve complex problems and deliver technology that makes a genuine difference.

With accountability for delivery performance, methodology, resources and solution quality, you will build a high-performing delivery pipeline that converts approved demand into valuable capability on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to influence how IT delivers, strengthen organisational capability and leave a lasting impact.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, value-streams and programs. Ensure rigorous management of scope, schedule, budget, and risks to meet business commitments.
  • Track and manage project performance through quality, delivery velocity, and technical debt reduction metrics. Manage interdependencies through consistent status reporting, milestone tracking, and risk and issue management.
  • Collaborate with the Manager IT Strategy & Governance to ensure vendor contracts include clear delivery obligations, acceptance criteria, and escalation paths. Assess and manage delivery risk introduced by third-party dependencies.
  • Collaborate with the Manager IT Service to ensure frictionless handover of solutions into production service. Capture lessons learned and applied to continuously improved delivery
  • Manage the configuration, deployment, integration and validation/verification of our solutions, including corporate applications, IT infrastructure and platforms, and delivery team environments.
  • Manage the development and delivery of the technical foundation needed for modern application and data integration including the core integration and data architecture and platforms, tooling, API’s, storage & pipelines.
  • Ensure that testing standards, code quality, documentation and development practices are defined and enforced.
  • Partner with the Organisation Change function to manage the "people side of change. " Ensure that the technical solutions delivered are matched by the necessary stakeholder reviews, impact statements, training, communication, and process adoption required for realization of business value.
For the duration of the probation period, this position requires full-time attendance in the office (five days per week). Upon successful completion of probation, flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working and a 9-day fortnight, can be discussed.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • 10+ years in enterprise IT project delivery, with at least 3 years in a leadership position in a significant portfolio of change within a hybrid on-premises and cloud enterprise environment.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of applications, integration, infrastructure and data solution delivery.
  • Expert knowledge in automating the path to production, integrating security, and fostering a "You Build It, You Run It " culture.
  • Strong capability to drive organizational adoption, ensuring technical success translates into measurable business process improvement.
  • Ability to manage application, integration, infrastructure and data initiatives under a unified delivery framework (including value-stream and product-centric delivery models) .
  • Proven ability to manage delivery performance of external vendors, system integrators, and technology partners engaged on IT projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
  • Certification: PMP/Prince2, Agile (Scrum/SAFe).
  • ITIL or COBIT Foundation certifications are highly desirable
