IT Systems Engineer

Your role

As an IT Systems Engineer at Saab Naval, you will work with onboard IT systems for our submarine and surface vessel projects. You will be part of building and maintaining robust, secure, and high-performing IT environments in complex and distributed systems. You will collaborate closely with system engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure that our onboard IT systems meet operational and technical requirements.

Our systems combine in-house development with commercial components, integrated into advanced and mission-critical platforms.

The main tasks are:

  • Design, develop, and verify onboard IT systems and infrastructure
  • Contribute to implementation through scripting, automation, and system configuration
  • Analyse and review technical solutions and system architectures
  • Define and maintain system documentation (design, instructions, policies)
  • Support integration of internally developed and externally sourced systems
  • Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability

You will work from one of our centrally located offices in Lund or Karlskrona, with occasional travel within Sweden and internationally.

Your profile

You are a curious and solution-oriented engineer or developer who enjoys working in a collaborative and cross-functional environment. You have the ability to move from requirements and analysis into practical, working solutions.

You value teamwork, knowledge sharing, and contributing to a positive and open engineering culture.

Required skills:

  • A degree in software engineering, IT, or a related field – or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience in IT systems, software development, or infrastructure engineering
  • Experience in working in a development team
  • Experience with or interest in several of the following: Version control (Git), Scripting or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar), Linux and/or Windows environments, Virtualization (KVM, Hyper-V), Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) and/or Microsoft Active Directory
  • Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken

Desired skills:

  • Experience in system architecture or technical design
  • Knowledge of DevOps / DevSecOps practices
  • Experience working in product development environments
  • Experience of working in complex, distributed systems

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.

Please note that the selection process will begin in Week 34, starting after August 14.
