Lead Test Automation Developer – Saab Naval

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Developer to strengthen our 9LV CMS testing function in Tampere. 

Your role 
As a Lead Test Automation Developer, you would be responsible for maintaining and developing Robot Framework adaptation for Saab 9LV CMS in Finland.


As a Lead Developer, you would steer, coach and educate other test automation engineers in developing and maintaining the framework adaptation. You would also educate and coach test engineers in writing high-quality, maintainable test cases and test suites.

Through your contribution, you would enable test engineers and other test automation developers to produce maintainable and understandable automated test cases for 9LV CMS. You could also occasionally contribute to test case development in new areas.


The 9LV CMS test automation framework is a joint global initiative, and you would communicate and exchange ideas with test automation colleagues at other Saab sites. The 9LV CMS department in Tampere is a part of broader international Naval Combat Systems organization, and you would work with international colleagues across other Saab sites. Despite the global organization, this role does not involve recurring travel.


You understand the value of dashboards and real-time reporting, so you would also participate in the design and potentially the development of dashboards and utilities. Together with the team’s Technical Product Owner, you would ensure that the test automation backlog is well maintained and in good shape.

Your profile 
To be successful in this role, you should have: 

  • Strong Python programming skills 
  • Solid hands-on experience with Robot Framework 
  • Experience developing and maintaining large-scale test automation frameworks 
  • Good understanding of test automation architecture, reusable design patterns, and 
  • maintainable test development 
  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux, command-line tools, and scripting 
  • Practical experience with Docker and containerized test environments 
  • Experience with Grafana or similar reporting and visualization platforms 
  • Knowledge of dashboard design, test metrics, and real-time reporting 
  • Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices 
  • Understanding of test strategy, quality engineering principles, and automation best practices 
  • Fluent in Finnish and English  
     

The following would be considered strong assets: 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing 
  • Experience with test environment orchestration and automation infrastructure 
  • Knowledge of AI-assisted test automation and modern testing approaches 
  • Experience working with complex, distributed, or mission-critical systems 
  • Previous experience leading technical initiatives, driving framework evolution

The salary range for this position is €5 000 – €6 000 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
