The role
As part of our Land & Aerospace group, the Technical Officer will be a member of the technical team responsible for maintaining, fault finding, repairing, testing and upgrading a wide range of electronic, electrical and mechanical systems associated with the LMMR systems under the In-Service Support (ISS) Contract and other Land and Aerospace projects.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Possess relevant Industry maintenance or manufacturing experience, or relevant ADF experience
- Have a good general knowledge of electronic, electrical and mechanical fundamentals, the correct use and care of general-purpose test equipment and general workshop skills,
- Sound knowledge of safety practices related to electronic, electrical and mechanical equipment, especially electrical safety and ESD prevention,
- Ability to read and understand basic circuit and block diagrams and follow the instructions contained in technical manuals and test procedures,
- Repair and/or maintenance experience with relevant electronic, electrical or mechanical systems, either as a maintainer or operator
- Experience in various computer operating systems, including Windows and LINUX
About you
Your education, skills and experience will include:
- Certificate III or higher in Electronics and Communications, Electrotechnology Electrician, Engineering, or an equivalent and relevant qualification,
- Recent and extensive operator or maintainer experience with radar or air defence systems in the ADF or defence industry.
- Qualifications and/or experience in training and instruction, or willingness to obtain,
- Relevant Industry maintenance or manufacturing experience, or relevant ADF experience.
- Extensive technical experience and / or experience in a leadership or management position.
- Good problem-solving abilities,
- Good oral and written communications,
- Proficient in the use of PCs and relevant software applications (MS Office Suite, etc.),
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
