In this position you will be located in the manufacturing unit in Jhajjar.
The Logistics Leader is responsible for the end-to-end management of the supply chain logistics for Saab’s weapon manufacturing unit in India. This role entails managing the import of Defence-related components from Sweden and Europe and planning the secure domestic transport of weapons for proof firing and final delivery to the Indian Army.
The position requires close collaboration with Production and Purchasing departments to align logistics with manufacturing schedules.
Key responsibilities include managing international freight, customs clearance, and compliance with trade regulations (Incoterms, export controls). The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols for transporting sensitive/hazardous materials and fostering strong relationships with freight forwarders and customs agents.
Your responsibilities in your role will include:
International Logistics Management: Plan and execute the importation of critical Defence components and raw materials from Sweden and other European entities. Manage end-to-end freight forwarding for air, sea, and road transport.
Domestic Transport & Delivery: Strategize and oversee the secure inland transportation of finished weapon systems to firing ranges for proof firing and to Indian Army depots for final delivery. Ensure compliance with strict security protocols during transit.
Customs & Compliance: Manage all customs clearance activities, ensuring accurate documentation (Bill of Entry, invoices, packing lists). Ensure strict adherence to Incoterms 2020, Indian Customs regulations, and Export Control laws.
Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all transport complies with Indian laws regarding Defence goods, including PESO (Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization) guidelines and the Arms Act for the movement of arms and ammunition.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Purchasing Department to track inbound material availability and with the Production Department to schedule outbound deliveries based on manufacturing output.
Vendor Management: Evaluation, and management of Freight Forwarders, Customs House Agents (CHAs), and Transporters. Negotiate rates and monitor performance SLAs.
Inventory & Storage: Oversee the receipt, warehousing, and dispatch operations, ensuring inventory accuracy and safe storage of hazardous materials.
You will also prepare monthly logistics performance reports (Freight costs vs. Budget, On-time delivery tracking) and furthermore communicate shipment status, customs delays, and critical transit risks to stakeholders in a timely manner.
The selected candidate will undergo mandatory training in Sweden during fall 2026.

Your profile
To be a good match for this position we are looking for you who have:
Graduate or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or Operations Management from a reputed institute.
8-12 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management
At least 4 years of hands-on experience in International Logistics (Imports/Exports) and Customs Clearance
Very good communications skills, both verbal and written, in Hind and English
We also see the following as preferred experience:
Experience in the Aerospace, Defence, or Automotive manufacturing sector is highly preferred.
Dangerous Goods (DG) Certification: Knowledge of IATA/IMDG regulations for handling and transporting Class 1 Explosives and hazardous materials.
Defence Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with the Defence procurement procedure (DPP) and logistics requirements of the Indian Army.
ERP Proficiency: Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle) for shipment tracking and inventory management.
Legal Awareness: Understanding of E-Way bills, GST regulations involving Defence goods, and specific documentation for duty exemptions (if applicable).
We expect that you will follow all the security processes and have a deep safety awareness and follow the company rules regarding these areas.
The position requires that you undergo and be approved according to the applicable security protection regulations and undergo a security vetting.
