Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance Technician

As Saab is building a new green field operation in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical/ electrical work on various manufacturing/ plant equipment. Responsibilities will include:
Work in a team or autonomously to complete work orders and provide maintenance support in a climate controlled manufacturing environment.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment, disassembling and reassembling of machinery.
Interpret mechanical / electrical schematics and equipment manuals.
Adhere to plant safety and sanitation requirements; Complete assigned work efficiently and per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Contribute to an effective work planning process that utilizes work order, planners, and part staging.
Assist with process improvement and initiate change.
Analyze knowledge & process data and make decisions on equipment maintenance and improvement activities.
Contribute to an effective preventive maintenance system (e.g. manufacturing equipment, electrical system, HVAC, pneumatic system, security system, building).
Work in a team environment with Engineering department for equipment installation, layout changes & installations per manufacturing needs.
Maintain a safe environment outside during winter season.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment inside the plant.
All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required.
5 years of industrial electrical and mechanical experience or two-year technical degree preferred.
Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lock out / tag out, confined space entry, OSHA, NEMA).
Strong electrical background (tracing circuits, running conduit, establishing new circuits, installing grid work according to NEMA and OSHA standards).
Strong computer skills required; Microsoft Office (Excel) proficiency as well as Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
Must be able to continuously stand, bend, and twist. Must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed with notice or in an emergency situation. Must be able to work in varying temperatures and climates.
Ability to drive a fork truck or obtain an in house license.
Ability to drive a scissor lift / boom truck.
