Background

As environmental concerns become increasingly important, it is crucial to continually assess and improve the environmental performance of existing products and integrate more sustainable practices. This degree project opportunity focuses on performing a detailed Environmental Conscious Design (ECD) assessment of a specific product within Saab Aerospace Systems.

Description of the master thesis

This Master Thesis aims at identifying areas for environmental improvement throughout the product's life cycle. The ECD assessment will cover design aspects of all stages of the product's life cycle, including material sourcing, manufacturing, transport, use, and end-of-life. The project will involve reviewing and analyzing existing design specifications, material choices, manufacturing processes, and end-of-life management strategies. The goal is to identify opportunities for reducing environmental impact and improving sustainability.

Saab Aerospace Systems is a business unit within Saab Aeronautics that develops and produces intricate aircraft structures. We are a trusted supplier dedicated to quality, reliability and innovation. Our customers include market leading commercial aircraft OEMs, and in partnership with Boeing we develop advanced trainers. Your profile

This Master Thesis is suitable for 2 students with interest in product design and sustainable manufacturing. Insights in circular economy and sustainable design practices are a plus.


You are at the end of your Master of Science in Engineering / Product Development or similar , and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
